Frequently asked questions

How do I apply for a grant?

You will need to fill out an application form, available from your local airport community fund contact or downloadable from the local airport community fund page. We recommend that before you complete an application form, you email the local contact with an outline of your project to check its eligibility.

Is there a limit to how much we can apply for?

Grants of up to £5,000 are available from the local airport community funds. Larger grants, of up to £25,000 are awarded by The Communities Trust, on a recommendation from the local airport community fund panels.

When is the next grants meeting?

Airport community fund panels meet at least three times a year and the main Trust meets four times a year. Check with your local airport community fund for the next date and deadline for applications.

Applications need to be sent to the community fund panels at least two weeks before the meeting date.

What types of organisations and projects do you fund?

We make grants to projects linked to education, the environment and economic regeneration.

Applicants need to demonstrate that funding will help:

  • To create learning opportunities for young people and raise their aspirations.
  • To break down barriers to employment through skills development.
  • To help protect the environment.

Organisations we have funded include charities, community organisations, local authorities providing community services, schools and colleges.

Are there any restrictions on what you will fund?

We do not provide funds for:

  • general running costs
  • salary costs
  • for appeals in support of a sole person, whether health or education related
  • commercial sponsorship
  • third party advertising
  • political campaigning
